Arsenal desperate to get back on track
Arsenal will be desperate to get back on track when they host Watford at the Emirates Stadium for a Premier League clash on Sunday, 11 March 2018, kick-off at 15h30 CAT.
Arsenal had lost four successive matches heading into Thursday night’s UEFA Europa League clash away to AC Milan, including successive 3-0 hammerings at the hands of Manchester City in the League Cup and Premier League.
Yet it was last weekend’s 2-1 loss at Brighton & Hove Albion which arguably hurt the most for Gunners fans, with their team now seemingly vulnerable to being turned over even by mid-to-lower-table teams.
All of which means ninth-placed Watford will fancy their chances of an upset win in London and the chance of a ‘double’ over Arsene Wenger’s side.
The Hornets have won three of their last four league games to rise out of relegation contention. Last weekend they defeated West Bromwich Albion 1-0 thanks to a goal from Troy Deeney – the veteran also netted the only goal in their win at home to Everton at the end of February and the opener in a famous 4-1 triumph over Chelsea before that, making him the form player to watch.
In head-to-head stats, Arsenal and Watford have met in 22 matches across all competitions. The Hornets have claimed 11 wins compared to 10 for the Gunners, while just one game has been drawn.
The teams’ most recent meeting was a Premier League clash in October 2017 at Vicarage Road which was won 2-1 by Watford thanks to goals from Troy Deeney and Tom Cleverley. It was the Hornets’ second successive victory over the Gunners after winning 2-1 at the Emirates Stadium in January 2017.
