Liverpool to slaughter Swansea again
Liverpool will be confident of another Premier League victory when they tackle Swansea City in a Premier League clash at the Liberty Stadium on Monday, 22 January 2018, kick-off at 22h00 CAT.
Liverpool have won four straight Premier League matches since their 3-3 draw with Arsenal last month, and their crowning moment arrived last Sunday when they defeated Manchester City 4-3 at Anfield, becoming the first team to take three points off the log leaders this season.
The Reds have moved up to third place on the standings and are just three adrift of second-placed Manchester United. Hauling in their hated rivals and finishing second is a realistic and attainable goal for Jurgen Klopp’s men to aim for.
Swansea are in desperate need of a run of strong results, as they find themselves rooted to the bottom of the table and four points from safety.
They have at least shown signs of improvement in their last two matches, a 1-1 draw away to Newcastle United in the Premier League last weekend and a 2-1 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in a replayed FA Cup tie in midweek.
In head-to-head stats, Swansea and Liverpool have met in 19 matches across all competitions. The Reds have claimed 10 wins compared to five for the Swans, with four matches drawn.
The teams’ most recent meeting was a Premier League clash at Anfield on December 26 last year, which saw Liverpool claim a resounding 5-0 win thanks to goals from Philippe Coutinho (now with Barcelona), Roberto Firmino, Trent Alexander-Arnold and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain.
