World Sports Betting (WSB) is a South African betting company offering national, continental and international sports betting including live in-play betting, global horse race betting, lotteries and Powerball.
Who are World Sports Betting?
World Sports Betting was established in 2002. Along with its retail presence, the company’s online betting platform was launched in 2009. The platform includes both pre-match and in-play options. WSB also provides market-specific products throughout Africa.
Bonuses and promotions
New users to the WSB platform receive a R50 Free Bet welcome bonus upon registration. This promotion, however, is only available within 72 hours of registration.
WSB offers a couple of standard promotions and bonuses such as a Refer A Friend voucher for online users to the value of R50 for every referral. This bonus is available for South Africans only.
WSB offers to match a user’s first deposit up to R10 000. However, the player will need to wager five times the amount of the bonus before they will be allowed to withdraw from their account. The minimum deposit for this promotion is R50.
Users qualify for a deposit match on their birthday. The promotion matches up to a maximum of R2 000 and is exclusive to online and mobile users.
The platform runs weekly promotions as well as special promotions that often involve prizes other than money, such as signed t-shirts or VIP experiences.
WSB also offers users the chance to join their Club Privé – an exclusive rewards programme.
However, despite the platform’s vast range of promotions and bonuses the method in which users can claim these is cumbersome. Users wanting to claim something must email a designated address at WSB using a promotion-specific subject line.
Different ways to pay
Bank transfers or cash deposits can be made into accounts at five South African banks.
World Sports Betting accepts all Visa, Mastercard, Diners and Discovery cards.
Instant EFTs can be done via SiD or Ozow which allows a user to make payment directly to WSB using the user’s existing internet banking facility.
OTT and Flash1 vouchers can also be used and are available for purchase at various retailers around South Africa.

The platform allows players to bet on more than 250 000 pre-match events a month and around 200 000 live events a month, 500 lotto draws and more. Users are able to place single or multiple bets.

In addition to the many options for sports betting, WSB also offers players the chance to try live games such as roulette, baccarat, poker, dice, wheel of fortune and others. Users can also play national lotteries or powerballs, or bet on the lotto as fixed odds.

What’s the verdict?
One of the first in the market, WSB offers players a large range of sports and games to bet on. However, the interface can appear outdated and some aspects of the system are lacking. Comparatively, some competitors in the field have made quicker changes to their platforms, such as automatically loading bonuses to a user’s account, much quicker than WSB.
